Happy Thanksgiving from the Angry Asian Americans staff! We decided to ask our staff members what they’re thankful for this year. Through a global pandemic, a close election, and major lifestyle changes, we have all grown and discovered new things about ourselves. Here’s some highlights of staff members sharing what they are thankful for:
Sophia Mei:
“I am thankful for the opportunities that have come my way from this unfortunate situation. I’ve reconnected with some old friends, made new friends, and became closer with other friends. My bond with my family has strengthened as well and I think we understand each other better now. Even though I can’t hangout with my friends, I’m really happy that I finally got to spend a lot of time with my family. I’ve also been offered a couple jobs, which I am really thankful for because it’s hard to get a job with no previous experience. Lastly, I appreciate how hard some of my teachers are working. Even though this year has been really tough, these things have made this year not suck as bad.”
Aparna Sivaraman:
“This has been a hard year for everyone, but I am thankful for the changes I have gone through and the opportunities I’ve received. In a world that has gone virtual, I’m happy to have found ways to grow and learn, like through Angry Asian Americans. I have been able to explore my culture and find others to relate to. I’m also thankful for the relationships I have strengthened and the experiences I have gained from those that I have lost. I am thankful for this year of growth.”
Ashling Lee:
“I'm currently extremely thankful for everyone on our [Angry Asian Americans] team and all the hard work... I think we're doing good work and it couldn't be done without you guys. I am so thankful for the fact that amidst a pandemic, I am still able to connect with people through social media. I think during a time when we can hardly go out to see other people, it's a blessing to have this platform and opportunity to bring people together.”
Anila Noushin:
“I'm thankful for my family because they give me better opportunities to succeed in life. Not only that, but I am thankful for being fortunate enough to live in a stable and happy home with food on the table every night because I know there are people out there that don't get things like that. Lastly, I am thankful for my friends because I always have a blast with them and I know I can be myself around them.”
Abigail Jung:
“I'm thankful that during quarantine, I got to know more about Korean culture by trying out new Korean foods with my family.”
Marykate Wee:
“Personally, I’m thankful for the people in my life, especially my family and friends. Especially during this pandemic, we need our support group to keep us grounded and not feel alone. I’m thankful for the creative ways we choose to recreate in-person activities through virtual alternatives because it creates hope for a better future.”
Jencie Tomasek:
“I’m thankful for my family for sticking by my side through everything, and for my sister who is always willing to hear my bad jokes and stand by my side. I’m also thankful for coming across AAA and meeting an amazing group of individuals who want to help change the world with me!”
Conclusion:
In all, the Angry Asian Americans staff would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! We are extremely thankful for the positive feedback we receive on our posts and the ability to interact with our followers. We’re excited to continue educating and bringing awareness to important issues.
