Filipino American History Month (FAHM) commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the U.S which occurred on October 18, 1587. “Luzones Indios” sailed aboard the “Nuestra Senora de Esperanza” and landed in modern day Morro Bay, California. Today, Filipino Americans are the second largest Asian American group in the nation, making up 20% of the nation's population. FAHM celebrates the multiple ways that Filipino Americans have contributed significantly to American History through the Philippine-American War, serving in World War II, and even strengthening our labor movement.
